"My Times Are in Thy Hand"

Psalm 31 reveals a glimpse of the David’s deep faith in His Lord. In a time where nothing seemed to go his way, David gave this testimony: "But I trusted in Thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my God. My times are in Thy hand" (v. 14-15a).

Those of you who have followed my updates know that I’ve been in the US for over six months now applying for a visa to return to Spain as a missionary. What I had hoped would be a short visit of a few months has become a long time away from the ministry I love in Spain. I’ve lost count of the times I’ve been stuck waiting for one thing or another to come through in the application process. Unfortunately I still don’t have much of an idea when I’ll actually have my visa in hand. But as soon as God is ready, I’ll be back in Spain.

In the meantime, I’m very grateful for His provision and presence so far. God has given me many small opportunities to help in different ministries here in Greenville, as well as great opportunities to share the Gospel with coworkers and friends. He’s provided work opportunities at the times I’ve needed them most, and He’s taught me so much about patience and faith in Him. So I can praise the Lord with David: "Blessed be the Lord: for He hath showed me his marvelous kindness in a strong city" (same Psalm, v. 21)

But as always, I covet your prayers more than anything else. I’m updating the prayer requests page on my website (here is a link), but these are some of the biggest things I’m praying for:

  • Visa application: my biggest goal right now is still to make it back to Spain, and I can’t do that until my visa is approved
  • Gospel opportunities: I hope for more and clearer opportunities to share Christ with unsaved friends and coworkers.
  • Website business: I have started building websites as a means of supplementary income. I’m praying the Lord will let that business grow so I can keep doing when I return to Spain. If you know of a need for a website, I’d appreciate a shout out for www.sierracreation.com
  • Financial provision: As I mentioned, God has provided work roofing and elsewhere at the times I’ve needed it most, but it has been hard to save anything up for graduate studies when I return to Spain. I’m praying that God would provide everything I’ll need for grad school.
  • Spiritual growth: Please pray that God would keep drawing me closer to Him.

Thank you so much for your prayers. I trust it won’t be long before I’m able to return to ministry in Spain.

God bless,
David Bonikowsky

Up on the roof once again...

Roofing can be quite a bit of fun, actually… :) Praise the Lord for work opportunities though.
